Abstract
This paper will discuss the necessity of balancing the know-what (contents, subjects, materials),
the know-how (skills, approaches, methods, techniques), and the know-why (critical thinking,
evaluation, reflection) in the English Studies when introducing literatures from the postcolonial
countries. It is within this dynamic interplay of the above framework, this paper will argue, that
the teaching and learning of English in Indonesia need to be reconstituted and situated.
